Karen Simon is a Vice Chairman in the Investment Bank of JPMorgan and heads up the Financial Sponsor Coverage Group. The group provides corporate finance investment banking services to private equity funds such as leveraged buy-outs, IPOs, and M&A advisory for the funds’ portfolio companies as well as general banking products for the GP’s. The group covers over 100 private equity funds with a team of senior bankers working in concert with the broader JPMorgan advisory and product areas.
Karen has over 30 years of experience with JPMorgan, the majority spent overseas based in London where she was Global Co-Head of the Financial Sponsor coverage group responsible for private equity clients in Europe and Asia from 2007 to 2013 before relocating back to the US. JPM covers sponsors internationally throughout Europe, Asia and more recently Latan America for a comprehensive global strategy. Prior to sponsor coverage, Karen held a number of positions including Co-Head of EMEA Debt Capital Markets from 2001 to 2004 and Head of EMEA Oil & Gas during the 1990’s. Karen started with Chemical Bank as an analyst in 1983 and spent the first 15 years of her career in Oil & Gas coverage.
Karen graduated from the University of Colorado and received master degrees from Southern Methodist University and The American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). She is a dual US/UK citizen and sits on the Board of Aker ASA in Norway.
Karen has been member of the Youth INC Board of Directors since 2014 and currently serves as a BridgeFund Grant Monitor for the Bloomingdale Family Program.Back to Our Team
