Fried Frank, Youth INC's corporate partner, long-standing tradition of philanthropic responsibility

February 15, 2022

Fried Frank prides itself on its strong sense of philanthropic responsibility. This core value is reflected in the Firm’s commitment to providing pro bono efforts and financial aid to nonprofits. Our continued partnership with Youth INC ties directly back to this commitment, and we were honored to once again contribute funding toward Youth INC’s Annual Celebration Gala to support its network of nonprofit partners focused on youth development.

The 27th annual signature event raised a record amount of funding for Youth INC’s partners to provide the tools and resources needed to assist more than 200,000 New York City youth in reaching their potential. The gala was a spectacular event and featured well-deserved honors for Adena Friedman, president and CEO of Nasdaq, who received the John C. Whitehead Leadership Award, and Sister Tesa Fitzgerald, founder and executive director emeritus of Hour Children, who received the inaugural Lifetime Achievement award.

Unique among nonprofits, Youth INC helps empower more than 75 small and mid-sized New York City nonprofits with fundraising, board-building, and infrastructure to achieve sustainable growth and help young people succeed. It’s an innovative strategy to ensure the effective use of philanthropic support.

Fried Frank is also exceptionally proud of its ties and pro bono work with Youth INC’s nonprofit partners, including:

  • America SCORES - a New York organization that seeks to create equitable opportunities for young people to experience sport, express themselves, and inspire positive change off the field and outside the classroom
  • Only Make Believe - an organization that creates and performs interactive theatre for children in hospitals, care facilities, and special education programs throughout the New York and Washington DC metropolitan areas
  • StreetSquash - a comprehensive youth enrichment program that combines academic tutoring, squash instruction, community service, college preparation, leadership development, and mentoring for young people in Harlem, NY, and Newark, NJ

In addition, Fried Frank has supported the youth development organization, JumpStart, a national early education organization providing language, literacy, and social-emotional programming for preschool children from under-resourced communities and promoting quality early learning for all children.

America SCORES

Fried Frank has a long-standing tradition of public service. Over the last year, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Fried Frank shifted its charitable contribution focus to respond to the growing needs of our communities and those left most vulnerable. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) remains a significant priority at Fried Frank. The Firm is currently supporting a number of critical organizations on the front lines, as well as charities devoted to feeding people who have lost their jobs as a result of this crisis. We have also established a CSR task force to coordinate the Firm’s charitable efforts and identify opportunities for our lawyers and staff to support their communities.
